In lieu of iLoo

Was I the only one who was waiting for a lot of debate about whether people would actually use a wireless MSN toilet provided by... a company known for buggy products... that spread viruses... and have security leaks?

At least making that cheap shot is an excuse to relaunch this weblog. Maybe some blogging celebrity will stop in for a visit and be amused.

If you missed the "news" (for as long as these links stay active):

It's not a joke

It's a joke

It's not a joke

Whether it was a joke or not, it's a bad idea, and it's dead.

Next joke: "How many public relations departments does it take to change a lightbulb?" No, I won't answer that question.

Journalistically, a small point that annoyed me was the way so many news writers took a snarky tone about the thing, but still used "canned quotes" from the MS-UK press release (or the AP story based on it) as if they'd talked to "MSN marketing manager Tracy Blacher" themselves -- presumably asking hard-hitting questions like "You're kidding, right?"

At least the guy in Seattle says he made a few phone calls, even if he used the original quote anyway.
