Bites from Reuters New RSS Feed

Reuters has just launched a new newsfeed service for personal and non-commercial syndication using the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) format.

Here are samples of a couple of the feed categories, including the full contents at the time given. Besides serving as examples of typical story summaries, having them here will give us a way to check back and see how permanent the links to the full stories are, something I don't see mentioned on Reuters RSS page.

  Broader U.S. Picture Swaps Move Closer to Reality. NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. mobile camera phone users are a step closer to wirelessly swapping digital photographs with whomever they choose after two rival technology groups said on Thursday they agreed on guidelines for such services.

  HP, Quark Unveil Digital Publishing Alliance. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Quark Inc., the large maker of desktop publishing software, and Hewlett-Packard Co. , the computer and printer giant, on Friday announced an alliance to offer software that would let Quark customers generate more personalized marketing materials using HP printers.

  Yahoo, Lycos Europe Strike Web Chat and IM Alliance. LONDON (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc. and Lycos Europe, rival Web portals now turned business partners, will swap Web chat and instant-messenger technologies in a cost-savings move, the companies said on Thursday.

  AOL Launches Site for Video Games. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - America Online on Wednesday unveiled a video game site for high-speed subscribers, a bid to attract more customers toward the broadband service it sees as key to its future growth.

  Sony Cancels Many Sports Video Games for '04. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The U.S. video game arm of Sony Corp. <6758.T> said on Wednesday it would not update some of its sports titles this year, mirroring a similar move by Microsoft Corp. amid intense competition.

  Fingerprint Led to U.S. Madrid Bomb Suspect - Sources. MADRID (Reuters) - An American lawyer arrested in the United States was being held as a suspect in the Madrid train bombings after investigators found a fingerprint on a bag linked to the bombers, Spanish police sources said on Friday.

  Judge: $289 Billion Tobacco Case to Trial. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A federal judge dealt tobacco companies a legal setback in a ruling made public on Friday, refusing to throw out the federal government's $289 billion racketeering case against the industry.

  Health Probe Clears NJ Racetrack of Mad Cow Fears. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - There is no evidence that people who ate at a New Jersey racetrack have become infected with a rare human version of "mad cow" disease, U.S. health officials said on Friday.

  Blue Chips Drop on Oil Prices. NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. blue chips declined while technology stocks edged higher on Friday, as investors fretted over rising oil prices and worried that a report showing surprisingly strong jobs growth last month might mean the Federal Reserve will lift interest rates as early as June.
