- Multi-state listing gives dates of postings. For example, there were five new ones the week I looked, including reporting, editing and online.

- The long-standing trade newspaper for the newspaper trade provides clear posting-dates for its ads, some of which include e-mail contact.

- Extensive resource site with links to 50 job boards, internships, tips and more. Provided by the Detroit Free Press.

- Wall Street Journal site with salary info, job-hunting advice, columnists and job ads.

- While primarily for college faculty job listings, the Chronicle also has openings in college information offices, in-house newspapers and magazines, etc. Free search of last week's ads.

- Not a lot of listings, but they can be sorted by freelance, journalism, media, medical, publishing and tech writing.
- Employment Sites for tech writers, editors
- The Society for Technical Communicators includes writers and editors in the computer industry, medical, insurance, banking, manufacturing, government and more. The site lists permanent jobs, contract jobs and internships. Active Boston chapter

- San Francisco State's list includes scholarships and internships as well as job links.

- Nothing fancy, but run by the California Society of Newspaper Editors and gives clear posting-dates for ads.

- Mostly listings for experienced desk editors and page designers, and link to Copy Editor newsletter.
- Investigative Reporters and Editors - jobs
- Lists selective print and broadcast openings; IRE is a membership and training organization for reporters who do some serious digging, but ads are open to anyone, at least for now. Members can post "situation wanted" ads anonymously.
- American Society of Business Pub Editors
- ASBPE has its own listings and links to business publishers Web sites etc.
- Online News Association (ONA) journalists.org
- Awards and annual convention in late October; researhc programs include digital journalism credibility study.

- National Diversity Journalism Job Bank (for women, minorities)
- You must submit a resume to get a password. Primarily aimed at women & minorities, covers all aspects of the newspaper & media industries, from advertising and public relations to management and editorial.

- Babj.org is the Boston branch of this 3,000-member national organization, with info on awards student services, fellowships, internships and more.

- This bills itself as "the most complete and comprehensive listing of job availabilities in America's television newsrooms." Updated weekly on the Web, it offers daily e-mail alerts too.
- Electronic Media magazine -- click on "Marketplace"
- Help wanted ads from a cross-section of the country, but not an overwhelming number, even though they include non-news positions. No dates on ads. Free "situation-wanted ads" for individuals.
- TVjobs.com Broadcast Employment
- Internship listings are freely searchable. For other jobs, it's a subscription service, $20 a year, but teases and statistics about recent ads are free.
- TVSpy.com Job Bank
- Individual ads don't carry a date of entry, so double check to make sure they are up to date.

- Don't be discouraged if the front page says "April edition" in late May... apparently the ads are updated independently. .

- The headline says "140 new jobs weekly" and there's an agents listing service, but viewing jobs in the database costs at least $30 .

- One of the largest newspaper groups, with USA Today as its most visible produce.
- Belo Careers: Print, broadcasting and Web
- From the Providence Journal to the Dallas News and Riverside (Calif.) Press-Enterprise, with a lot of TV operations in between.

- From reporters to TV anchors to multimedia producers, Tribune has openings despite all the media-consolidation layoffs. The company includes the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Orlando Sentinel, Hartford Courant and many others.
